I like all my gifts to coordinate under my tree so I go with a color "theme" for my wrap. Last year I went with gold and red, the colors of my tree (which I love by the way). So I wanted to do something different this year. Here was my thought process inside Target's Wrap Section:
*I could do silver and black, I like the classic look of that
*I don't really like the bright colors on that wrapping paper...not classic enough for me (I am a very classically feminine girl)
*Ohh, that one has pink in it!!! How could I tie that one it?
*(3 minute later) There is no way to tie that pink on in...bummer!
*Does the princess wrap I got for the little girls I'm buying for need to go with the rest of the wrap? If so I'm SOL
*Should I be thrifty and use what I have left from last year (Little voice inside screamed yes)
*I could do silver with bright colored ribbon. This ribbon with the tassels is very fun
*(4 minute later) No, the silver and bright ribbon still isn't me...back to silver and black??
*Ahh screw it!! I'll wait and see what kinds of gifts I buy and what type of wrap I need, then I 'll come get some.
At this point I walked away from the wrap. Then, about 5 minutes later I had this thought:
*What if all the good wrap is gone when I come back?
I was able to walk away at that point, off to another wonderful section in Target, but this seems like the craziest thing to spend so much time debating over. So, I ask, am I the only one who does this? Is this another one of my many crazy OCD stress over the little stuff that I do? Or is this, dare I say it, normal?
Hee hee, this was very funny! I've never done that with wrapping paper, but I do that with plenty of other things. Like tea. I can spend a really long time in the tea aisle at the store, contemplating which would be the best one to add to my collection.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably going to comment on all your blog posts! And yay - I'm your first official follower!
I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from! We had a "Red/White/Blue" theme on our tree this year. Michael started to get impatient with me in Target because I was fussing over the fact that they didn't have wrapping paper to go along with our tree. How dare they?! I eventually settled on something that would do....but only because I was getting that "let's go NOW" stare from the hubby! Ha ha.
